Adam Sandler shared a promising update on Grown Ups 3 during a recent interview. The first movie in the series, Grown Ups, came out in 2010, followed by Grown Ups 2 in 2013. Since then, there has been considerable speculation about a potential third movie in the franchise.
Adam Sandler on what needs to happen for Grown Ups 3
Adam Sandler was asked by IndieWire about Grown Ups 3 on the red carpet for Happy Gilmore 2 recently. Sandler responded, “It would be fun, that would be fun. We’re always thinking of some s— and trying to get us all together. I’ve heard chatter.” He added about the prospective sequel, “When it happens, I’ve got to let you know. I just don’t know what the f— we’re doing right now, but we’re trying to figure out stuff.”
This came after Sandler’s co-star Kevin James said in an earlier interview, “I think there have been [conversations]. And I think, yeah, I think you can keep hope alive. I can say that. I would keep a lot of hope alive. And I think it’s happening—something’s happening. I can say that.”
Back in 2023, another cast member, Maria Bello, expressed interest in returning for Grown Ups 3. (via Flickering Myth)
Sandler penned Grown Ups with Fred Wolf and Grown Ups 2 with Wolf and Tim Herlihy. Dennis Dugan helmed both movies. Although they garnered poor reviews from the critics, they were successful at the box office. As a result, fans have remained hopeful for a sequel even though 12 years have passed since the release of the second feature. However, given the ensemble cast, their busy schedules, and other variables, it might be a while before Grown Ups 3 comes out.
Besides Sandler, James, and Bello, the cast of Grown Ups movies includes Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, and Steve Buscemi.
