How Ultraman Could Return as Bizarro in Superman 2 or 3

A new theory about Superman and the overall direction of the DCU suggests that Ultraman, portrayed by David Corenswet in the first movie, could return as Bizarro in parts 2 or 3. Neither Superman 2 nor Superman 3 has been officially confirmed by DC Studios as of now.

Superman theory reveals how Ultraman could be back as Bizarro in sequels

According to a new Superman theory, Ultraman can return in the first and second direct sequels to the movie. In James Gunn’s Superman, Ultraman initially fights Corenswet’s Man of Steel in the guise of the mysterious Hammer of Boravia.

It is revealed that Nicholas Hoult‘s Lex Luthor is controlling him using drones. Later in the movie, Luthor and his people create a trans-dimensional rift from their pocket universe reactor in the hopes of drawing Superman in. A fierce battle ensues between Superman and Ultraman, and the former learns that the latter is a clone of him that Luthor created.

Eventually, Superman traps Ultraman in a bus being dragged toward the black hole beyond the rift. That is the last time the audience sees Ultraman in the movie. Per the aforementioned theory, if Ultraman has survived the rift and the black hole, he can potentially return in Superman 2 or 3 as Bizarro. He already seems to have a low cognitive ability in Superman. What he endures in the black hole can potentially disfigure his appearance, turning him into Bizarro that fans know.

It’s possible that in one of the Superman sequels, Brainiac might appear, and he might pull the DCU Ultraman out of the black hole to serve as his underling. Alternatively, Ultraman might gain cognitive abilities and free himself.

Ultraman in the DCU seems to be an amalgamation of three characters from DC Comics: Bizarro, Ultraman, and Superboy. Lex Luthor was involved in the creation of most renditions of Bizarro as a clone of Superman. The Conner Kent version of Superboy was created as a clone of both Superman and Luthor. Meanwhile, Ultraman is Superman’s evil alternate-universe counterpart in the comics.
