An important cast member of Chicago PD has announced that she will be leaving the show before Season 13. A part of NBC’s Chicago franchise, Chicago PD debuted on the network on January 8, 2014. Season 12 aired from September 25, 2024, to May 21, 2025. NBC renewed the show for the thirteenth season ahead of the twelfth season finale.
Toya Turner on leaving Chicago PD as Kiana Cook
Actress Toya Turner, who portrayed Officer Kiana Cook in Chicago PD Season 12, recently took to Instagram to announce her exit. She will not reprise her role in Season 13. “My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next,” Turner added.
Turner proceeded to thank the cast and the crew for “the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity” they brought to the show. She added, “It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent.”
The actress then thanked fans for “welcoming” and “rooting for” her and “showing Kiana love.” Turner concluded the message by expressing gratitude to her supporters. “And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead,” she wrote.
Turner first appeared as Kiana in Season 12 Episode 2 of Chicago PD and was part of the main cast throughout the season. She also portrayed Kiana in Season 10 Episode 11 of Chicago Med. This is after she played Jayna Miles in a Season 2 episode of the show. This is not particularly uncommon in network shows. Actors who have previously played minor roles in a series sometimes join the main cast as a different character.
At the time of this article’s composition, the reasons for Turner’s exit from Chicago PD remain unclear.
