New set photos of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey share a glimpse of Zendaya’s character, Athena, alongside Matt Damon. The upcoming movie is set to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026. It also features multiple other stars, including Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and more.
Zendaya’s first look and costume revealed in The Odyssey set photos
Fans got the first look at Zendaya’s Athena from the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey after some set photos made their way to the internet.
The photos were posted by a fan account named @ChrisNolanMedia on X (formerly Twitter). In the snaps, Zendaya embodied Zeus’ daughter and the goddess of wisdom as she was dressed in an off-white, sleeveless, and long Greek gown. The Spider-Man: No Way Home actress also had her hair tucked up.
In another set of photos from the location, Zendaya is accompanied by Matt Damon. The latter plays the titular role of Odysseus in the movie. Damon sported a long gray beard and was shirtless in the photos.

Furthermore, this is the second glimpse of Damon’s Odysseus, which differs from the first look that was released on February 17, 2025. Universal Pictures teased the first look at Odysseus in an Instagram post and wrote, “Matt Damon is Odysseus. A film by Christopher Nolan, #TheOdysseyMovie is in theaters July 17, 2026.”
Universal Pictures also described The Odyssey as “a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.” The movie is based on the Greek poem The Odyssey, which was written by Homer. Nolan is shooting the film in Favignana, Italy, which was known as Aegusa (goat island) in ancient times. Parts of the filming will also take place on the island of Sicily.
