Life’s a Beach in the New ‘Rogue One’ Poster

Come to sandy wherever this is, where the water is blue, the palm trees are plentiful, and the Rebellion is currently kicking ass against a bunch of stormtroopers in a tide pool.

The new poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – the tale of how those Death Star plans got stolen in the first place – arrived this morning, along with an exciting behind the scenes video from the production. There’s a dynamic design to the poster, with a massive planet-destroying space station in the background, and a relatively small skirmish in the foreground. It might even seem comical if it wasn’t Star Wars.

Because what we’ve got here is a handful of guys wading in a tiny small Club Med beach, perfectly color-timed and beautifully isolated, fighting off a bunch of other dudes who look like they’re storming the surf and ruining a perfectly lovely vacation. The sense of scale is entirely with the Death Star, whereas the actual conflict we are witnessing is downright intimate.

It’s an intriguing look for the new Star Wars poster. I’m not sure I think it entirely works, but your mileage might vary. Check it out below.
