Halsey‘s fans are eagerly waiting for her next album announcement. The pop icon’s last release was in October 2024, titled “The Great Impersonator.” Sadly, her next addition isn’t happening any time soon. In a recent interview, Halsey shared that she is not allowed to make her next album due to the “failure” of her previous one.
Halsey’s fans rushed to support the pop singer
In her recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Halsey revealed that she isn’t allowed to make a new album at this time. This decision came after “The Great Impersonator under-performed.” Getting emotional, she stated: “I can’t make an album right now. I’m not allowed to. It’s the reality.” The 30-year-old mom of two added that her last album “didn’t perform the way they thought it was going to.” That album was expected to bring in numbers similar to those of her 2020 album, “Manic.” The musician defended a stance that it is unrealistic to expect all her works to fetch results similar to “Manic.”
“If I’m being honest with you, the [Great Impersonator] album sold 100,000 f–king copies first week,” she exclaimed. Continuing, Halsey added that “My Last Trick Tour is the highest-selling tour of my entire career, but they want Manic numbers from me… I can’t do that every single time.” Comparing her 2020 album to the 2024 one, Halsey said, “It would be considered a success for most artists, 100,000 copies in the first week, in an era when we don’t sell physical music.” However, it’s “a failure in the context of the kind of success I’ve had previously.”
Halsey continued, “And that’s the hardest part of having been a pop star once.” This is “because I’m not one any more, and I’m being compared to people that I don’t consider lateral to me.” Additionally, the three-time Grammy Award winner acknowledged the support of her fans. She expressed, “I love them, God bless them.” Halsey said they are “the only reason that I’m even able to make anything at all, that I can sell that many copies of an experimental concept album about death.”
