Charli XCX’s Minidress Says Brat Green but Different in TIFF Photos

Charli XCX showed up to TIFF dressed in a YSL minidress exactly the way she would be expected to: channeling the “Brat” green color. The “Brat” shade of green, which has been everywhere since the album dropped, got a luxury upgrade, and it looked like the perfect collision of her world with high fashion. Giving her signature color a couture twist, Charli XCX established herself as one of the best-dressed celebrities of the evening.

Charli XCX’s YSL minidress at TIFF turns Brat green into timeless trend, but with a twist

Charli XCX‘s YSL minidress at TIFF sat somewhere between party slip and lingerie fashion. With soft satin fabric, delicate straps, lace trimming at the hem, and a tie at the waist, the dress was the perfect rendition of her “Brat” era, but with a chic twist. It didn’t scream “Hollywood gown,” and instead leaned closer to Charli’s raw, clubwear energy, only refined through YSL.

The singer finished it with black pumps that had sharp, elongated toes, adding the right amount of edge to the look. With that, she let her long black hair cascade down her shoulders, wore bold red lipstick, but added nothing gaudy on the accessories front. The look seemed intentional, but not overly done. Additionally, the green color was the cherry on top. What started as a fan color has become her entire brand ecosystem, and wearing it on an international film red carpet solidifies the shade as more than a pop-era gimmick, establishing it as part of her signature aesthetic.

The Grammy-winner did not stick to just one major look at TIFF. For the premiere of “Erupcja,” which marks her acting debut, she switched gears into a black Chanel. It was a sheer, feather-light outfit with semi-transparent fabric, featuring curved paneling and pleats at the hem. Charli paired the dress with satin pumps and a Chanel shoulder bag, giving a more theatrical feel.

With Chanel, she nodded to timeless fashion. Meanwhile, with the YSL minidress at TIFF, Charli XCX nodded to the “Brat” green, proving she knows how to turn even a color into a cultural moment.
