It seems neither can Travis’ dad, who revealed details about what went down behind the scenes. In an exclusive interview with News 5 Cleveland, Ed Kelce claimed that the popstar was growing restless ahead of the proposal. The NFL star had seemingly been delaying the engagement, which made Swift quite “antsy.”
The hotshot couple announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, sending everyone into a complete frenzy.
Taylor Swift was not okay with Travis Kelce delaying their engagement
Fans might have just learned about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce getting married, but their engagement happened about two weeks ago. Ed Kelce told News 5 Cleveland that his son had actually been putting off the proposal till this week so he could “make some grand thing” and “make it a big special event.” However, Swift was seemingly not okay with Travis delaying it and was “getting maybe a little antsy.”
Ed recalled “repeatedly” telling the Kansas City Chiefs tight end that he could go down on his knee anywhere and still turn it into something extraordinary. He remembered telling his younger son, “You could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.” Moreover, Swift’s father, Scott, had echoed similar sentiments.
Travis Kelce’s dad also dished that he proposed to Taylor Swift nearly two weeks before their engagement announcement. He reportedly popped the question to the Grammy winner in a gorgeous garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The athlete took her “out there,” and sometime before heading out for dinner, he told her, “Let’s go out and have a glass of wine.”
Ed claimed it was then that Travis took her to the garden, where he proposed, and she said yes. The dad described the event as “beautiful,” adding that the pair immediately FaceTimed him, Donna Kelce, and Swift’s parents “to make sure everybody knew.”
