Blake Lively has been part of the Hollywood A-list crowd for quite some time now, but reportedly, her magic seems to be fading. According to industry sources, she has gained an unfavorable reputation among the directors, as they allegedly don’t want to work with her. Speculations sparked after the “Gossip Girl” alum’s sexual assault case against Justin Baldoni turned ugly. The two co-starred in the 2024 movie, “It Ends with Us,” directed by the latter.
Source says directors don’t want Blake Lively in their projects because of her ‘controlling’ nature
Blake Lively has become the topic of discussion yet again. A source told Rob Shuter that “people are nervous” around the 38-year-old. Reportedly, directors have been avoiding working with her as of late.
“She’s talented, yes — but she’s earned a reputation for being controlling,” an insider from a top studio claimed. They added that the filmmakers have been asking themselves if they “really want that drama.”
Her reputation took a big hit after she took charge of her upcoming project, “The Survival List.” She announced that she would act as well as produce the romantic comedy. Netizens seemingly slammed her, wishing the movie’s director “good luck” for “dealing with her.”
Another major reason why the filmmakers do not want Lively as a part of their project is reportedly because of her legal battle with Justin Baldoni. “Directors saw how ‘It Ends with Us’ collapsed under the weight of scandal,” a source mentioned. They allegedly do not want to be the next Baldoni.
For those unversed, Lively filed a sexual harassment case against the “Jane the Virgin” star. In response, he filed a $400 million countersuit against his “It Ends with Us” co-star, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane. While the judge later dismissed it, their ongoing legal battle is still a hot topic of discussion.
Due to this, Lively’s image among directors has reportedly taken a U-turn. “Studios don’t want their star doubling as a backseat director,” an insider claimed. Apparently, such behavior makes “everyone nervous.”
