Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau had the whole world in awe after photos of their dinner date in Montreal last month went viral. However, it looks like that’s about it for them. According to PEOPLE‘s exclusive report, an insider shared that the duo isn’t planning a second date anytime soon.
Calling their Montreal meet-up a “casual first get-to-know-you date,” the source told the outlet that this might be the extent to which their connection might last, at least for now. The insider continued, “And although they have shared interests and plenty to talk about, dating just isn’t on her radar.” Perry reportedly has stayed in touch with the former Canadian prime minister, but there have been no current plans for another get-together.
Perry and Trudeau’s initial dinner date took place at Le Violon on July 28. The latter even attended the singer’s The Lifetimes Tour concert at Montreal’s Bell Centre two days later. A source later revealed that the politician wasn’t too happy with the pictures getting out to the media and subsequently all over the internet.
The insider also added that while the alleged couple hit it off on their date, their connection seems to have fizzled out. They said, “She’s busy, he’s busy. They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off.” However, the source clarified that it’s not a “negative” sign but just an indication they aren’t communicating like they used to.
Perry and Trudeau’s dating rumors came shortly after the singer broke up with her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom. Sharing insight on the exes’ equation post-split, a source claimed it was “awkward and strained” amid speculation about the pop star’s love life.
