Lizzo‘s mental health confession from earlier this year resurfaced as she continues on her weight loss and transformation journey. She kicked off the year by announcing her fitness and wellness journey and has shared multiple glimpses of her progress over the months. However, a particular video from her March concert in Los Angeles has been making the rounds online. The clip captured her on stage as she opened up in front of the audience about her past struggles with “deep depression” and mental well-being.

Lizzo has often been transparent about her mental health with her fans and followers. In one such instance from earlier this year, she told her concert-goers about her past struggles and admitted to being in “dark, deep depression.” In March, the singer-rapper played her first public concert in two years in L.A. to support the release of her “Lizzo in Real Life” album. A video showed her taking the stage, looking as bold as ever and pouring her heart out to the audience.
In her speech, Lizzo claimed that she had been in “such a dark depression” for the past couple of years and even wanted to give up on life. “I was so heartbroken by the world, and so deeply hurt that I didn’t want to live anymore,” she revealed, adding that she was “so deeply afraid of people that I didn’t want to be seen.” The activist said that she “eventually” overcame her fears and attended a concert, where something “miraculous” happened that changed her. A stranger seemingly expressed their love for her.
Lizzo credited her supportive fans for their “life-saving” gestures, which helped her conquer the mental health challenges. In addition, she thanked them for loving her “in real life,” which inspired her album. As the 37-year-old recalled that moment in the video, she pondered how one cannot experience something as such online. She continued, “This is the kind of love you only get in real life.” The crowd cheered her on as she made her emotional speech.
