Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Might Trade Netflix for New Service After Deal Cancellation, ‘Source’ Claims

Netflix is reportedly concluding its deal with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, especially after Markle seemed to prioritize her brand, “As Ever.” The couple is expected to switch to another streaming platform given a relevant project is in sight. For now, their high-profile collaboration with Netflix is reaching its end.

Paramount+ looking to work with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, ‘source’ claims

The reason behind Netflix’s decision to end its deal with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is primarily the “huge loss of revenue.” According to The Sun’s exclusive report, Netflix will not renew its £100 million contract with the Sussexes. The agreement will expire in September.

Executives at Netflix were aware that Markle’s focus had shifted from producing content for the platform to developing her lifestyle brand, “As Ever.” A source told The Sun, “Netflix execs are well aware Meghan’s priority now is her own brand.” They claimed that Netflix “won’t play second fiddle to that,” stating the company was “mildly infuriated” by Markle’s changing priorities.

Sources indicated the decision to end the contract was reached quietly and mutually. However, no official announcement has been planned. An insider claiming, “The deal is done; no more shows will be made.” They added, “Netflix feel they’ve got all they can from the couple.”

The initial success of “With Love, Meghan,” drew significant viewership. However, subsequent projects reportedly failed to sustain the same level of interest among viewers. According to the source, “The content got weaker from there on.” They added, “for £20 million a year, anything was better than nothing.”

As per RealityTea, Markle’s show landed at No. 383 in Netflix’s global ranking. Despite the disappointing news, however, there is seemingly “no animosity from either side” and “things have just run their course.” Besides, The Sun revealed that other platforms, such as Paramount+, have expressed interest in working with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the Netflix deal falls through.

With the final season of Markle’s show expected to air later this year, observers are waiting to see what comes next for the couple as this chapter with Netflix draws to a close.
