Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Displeased With Oprah Winfrey’s Joke on The Sussexes, Says ‘Source’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly aren’t taking Oprah Winfrey’s recent joke on their royal title all too well. The former talk show host recently put a fun spin on the couple’s “Sussex” last name during her appearance on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast. An insider exclusively told Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “stung” by their friend’s joke. According to other sources, the pair’s displeasure comes from the fact that Winfrey was a trusted confidante.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t take Oprah Winfrey’s joke too well, claims ‘source’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have allegedly taken offense at Oprah Winfrey’s joke about their royal titles. Speaking to host Kelly Ripa on her podcast, the television producer talked about the potential of being gifted “fuzzy chickens.” Reflecting on what she would have done if presented with such a gift, Winfrey revealed that she would have taken the chicks to the royal couple.

However, while referring to Prince Harry and his wife, the former talk show host called them “Sussexes,” adding a few “xes” to the royal title. This happened not once but twice throughout her conversation with Ripa. Winfrey then proceeded to discuss an incident involving the couple and a mother duck and her baby chicks.

However, Winfrey’s joke seemingly didn’t sit well with Prince Harry and Markle, insiders claimed. A Hollywood source told Rob Shuter that while she “meant no harm,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “sensitive” to things that “makes them sound like a meme.” The “stung” royal couple isn’t too happy about the joke, given that Winfrey was a “trusted media ally.”

The insider continued, “Let’s just say… the Sussexes probably aren’t clucking with joy.” According to a royal watcher, Prince Harry and Markle understand the weight of Winfrey’s words, which only complicates the situation further.

The royal couple’s title became a point of conversation between Markle and Mindy Kaling when the latter appeared on the Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan.” The former actor corrected the guest, referring to her as “Meghan Markle” during the show. She emphasized the importance that “Sussex” holds within their family.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bond with Winfrey goes back a long way. The couple conducted their first interview with the former host in 2021 since stepping down from their royal duties. The author also attended the pair’s wedding in 2018.
