Meghan Markle Was ‘Careless’ for Launching as Ever Wine on a Big Day, Says ‘Expert’

Meghan Markle‘s As Ever wine launch on Princess Diana’s birthday seemingly drew criticism from netizens and even Prince Harry. Reports previously mentioned that the Duke of Sussex was against her releasing her new rosé on July 1, which marks his late mother’s birthday. Markle, however, went ahead with the launch on Tuesday, which a royal expert dubbed “insensitive.” The internet slammed her latest move with the brand, and the expert echoed similar sentiments, calling it “tone-deaf” and “careless.”

‘Expert’ disapproves Meghan Markle’s wine marketing methods

The Daily Mail exclusively spoke to a royal expert who criticized Meghan Markle’s As Ever wine launch on Princess Diana’s birthday. On Tuesday, sales for the rosé went live on the brand’s official website, and it didn’t sit well with many, including an expert, Kinsey Schofield. She told the publication that Markle’s announcement was “inappropriate.”

In Schofield’s opinion, her “launching an alcoholic product” on Prince Harry’s late mother’s birthday was “not just tone-deaf,” but also “insensitive.” She then explained the strategy behind the late royal’s death, who “died in a car crash caused by a drunk driver.” The expert believed that “fact alone” should have dismissed any “association between her memory and the marketing of alcohol.”

Despite calling Meghan Markle’s wine launch a “careless” move, Schofield highlighted the Duchess of Sussex’s tributes to Princess Diana over the years. She noted that the former actor once wore the late princess’ butterfly-shaped gold earrings and Cartier Tank Française watch. Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, reportedly gave the watch to her.

The royal expert further disapproved of Markle’s marketing method, arguing that a “celebrity wine” is now overshadowing the “trauma” of her demise on her birthday. She further added that there could have been “endless ways” to honor her legacy, but launching a wine wasn’t the right one.

Reports mentioned that Prince Harry did not support Meghan Markle’s wine launch timing. But she insisted that the clash was just a “pure coincidence” and that it was “too late” to change the date. Rob Shuter learned from sources that she seemingly “brushed him off,” a decision that “devastated” the prince.
