It appeared Sydney Sweeney didn’t have to utter more than four words in a classic response to criticism surrounding her Dr. Squatch bathwater soap. Only last week, the star and men’s personal care company introduced a new limited edition soap made from her bath water in a joint Instagram post. The photo showed a glimpse of “Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss,” which will be available to shop starting June 6.
However, Sweeney drew flak for the controversial release, which didn’t sit well with many. People shared critical remarks in the comments, and now, she has the most appropriate response to the backlash.
Sydney Sweeney is cheeky in response to Dr. Squatch collaboration criticism
Exclusively talking to PEOPLE at the “Echo Valley” premiere in New York, Sydney Sweeney gracefully defended the Dr. Squatch bathwater soap. She briefly chatted with the outlet on the red carpet ahead of the main event on Wednesday and handled the controversy like a pro. The interviewer brought up the backlash Sweeney faced after introducing “Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss” on Instagram and asked for a response. “I have to ask you about the soap,” the reporter told the actor, who couldn’t help but cackle.
The interviewer then raised the topic, telling the “Euphoria” star that the “internet was either all for it, with some saying ‘whatever makes men take showers.'” She had a textbook-style, cheeky response in not more than four words, replying, “I mean, honestly though.” Shortly after, Sweeney spoke to E! News about “Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss” on the red carpet when the interviewer sought to learn more about the partnership. She revealed that she pitched the idea and that it’s “more fun to see everybody else talk about it.”
Sydney Sweeney drew considerable criticism last week after introducing her own Dr. Squatch bathwater soap. The caption announced that the men’s natural soap stemmed from people asking about her bathwater following her ad with the personal care brand, and therefore, they “kept it.” It revealed the product’s name – Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss – which is made with her “actual bathwater.”
Sweeney’s bathwater soap will be available on the official Dr. Squatch website for a brief period, starting June 6.
