Miley Cyrus on Motherhood: ‘It’s a Lot of Responsibility’

Over the years, Miley Cyrus has won everyone’s heart with her acting skills and songs. From being a child actor to a sensational singer, the world has witnessed her growth in the last few decades. Looking at her evolution, fans have always wondered if Cyrus will ever embrace motherhood. The former Disney star has now answered the question in an interview, revealing why being a mom isn’t for her.

Miley Cyrus thinks motherhood is ‘a lot of responsibility’

From living a wild child era to becoming a pop icon, fans have witnessed Miley Cyrus’ growth over the years. Looking at the changes, fans were always eager to know if the singer ever wanted to become a mother. Cyrus has now candidly answered this question in “The Interview” podcast by The New York Times with Lulu Garcia-Navarro on May 31.

While speaking about her professional and personal life in the interview, the musician opened up about motherhood, saying she is not “focused on” having kids right now. To make her point, she even drew a parallel between her business decisions and motherhood in one of the segments.

Cyrus said that she is one of the few pop icons who does not have a makeup line because she does not relate to it. Even her stepdad, Dominic Purcell, who is married to her mother Tish Cyrus, felt it was the “right” decision. She even said how it “made so much sense” to her. She then connected this with being a parent, saying she feels “that way about motherhood” as well. Cyrus added that she has never been “overly passionate about” being a parent.

According to the singer, parenthood holds “a lot of responsibility and devotion and energy.” But if a person is “not passionate about that,” then she doesn’t understand “how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with.” She further said, “And when I say 18 years, I mean 33 because I’m still a baby. So, I’ve never felt the burn, you know, and I think for me, like, the burn is everything.” Cyrus emphasized, “It’s not something I’m focused on. For being such an opinionated, kind of sure person, this is an element in my life that I’ve always been pretty not super attached to, like a yes or no answer.”
