Here’s Why Taylor Swift Skipped Oscars 2025

Perhaps Taylor Swift had the most valid reason to skip the Oscars 2025 as she was neither performing nor presenting. Without a connection to the awards ceremony, Swift naturally did not attend the 97th Academy Awards at Los Angeles’ iconic Dolby Theater as she has done multiple times before. Nonetheless, her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, was one of the presenters at this year’s show.

Taylor Swift was not nominated for 2025 Oscars, therefore she skipped

Taylor Swift skipping the Oscars 2025 did not come as a surprise as she was neither presenting nor performing. Over the decades, she has never attended the Academy Awards, and this year was no different as her not being a nominee topped the list of valid reasons. While Swift has made a name for making dramatic high fashion red carpet appearances primarily for music-related events, she has yet to appear at the Oscars. However, she has made multiple appearances at the previous Vanity Fair Oscars parties, including once with her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

Alwyn attended the highly anticipated night of the awards season two years after he and the singer broke up. He wore a classic black tuxedo for the night, pairing it with a matching bow tie and white button-up. One element that stood out about his outfit was the stunning brooch pinned to the lapels of his coat. Alwyn served as a presenter this year and presented the Best Cinematography award to Lol Crawley for his work on “The Brutalist,” which also won in the Best Actor category for Adrien Brody.

Even with Taylor Swift skipping Oscars 2025, fans quickly pointed out on X (formerly Twitter) that a few backup dancers from her Eras Tour made it to the stage. Users shared snippets of these performers wearing wigs as they delivered rocking dance numbers. Several posts named the dancers as Jan Ravnik, Sam McWilliams, Sydney Moss, Tori Evans, and Taylor Banks, who were a part of Margaret Qualley’s performance as well as Conan O’Brien’s segment at the start.
