A new rumor hints at Marvel’s plans to expand its street-level universe with a potential revival on Disney+.
Reports suggest Jessica Jones could return in a new series. Marvel is currently deciding whether to develop the project as a full-length show or a standalone special.
Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones could get her own show on Disney+
The rumor was shared by entertainment insider Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK), who posted, “Marvel is discussing doing Jessica Jones as either a [TV] show or a special of her own.” This would mark another return of Krysten Ritter to the role following her confirmed appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
Reports previously suggested Ritter shot a cameo for Echo, but Marvel scrapped it after rebranding the show as a “Marvel Spotlight” standalone. They also considered a cameo for her in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, though it never came to fruition. Interest in the character’s return has grown since Jessica Jones Season 3 ended and increased with her confirmed role in the upcoming season of Born Again.
Marvel Television now focuses on grounded, street-level stories that mirror the tone of its earlier Netflix collaborations. The studio is developing both multi-season series and standalone “Special Presentations” similar to The Punisher. According to Richtman, Marvel is currently deciding whether the character’s story fits a full-length series or works better as a shorter project.
Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum, when asked about integrating characters like Luke Cage and Iron Fist in Daredevil: Born Again, stated, “It’s about not rushing and telling the best story… The story has to lead the path” (via The Hollywood Reporter). His comments indicate a cautious approach to character crossovers and revivals.
In a separate update, Richtman claimed Marvel is considering The Last of Us actor Bella Ramsey for a major MCU role. Previous reports linked Ramsey to the role of Kitty Pryde in the upcoming X-Men reboot.
Marvel will announce more details about the character’s return as development progresses.
