Rumor: This Key Marvel Villain to Return Even After Vision Series

A new rumor hints at a major villain’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the upcoming Vision series. Marvel reportedly plans to bring back the original voice actor and explore the character in the future.

Ultron last appeared in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and new reports claim he will return in multiple MCU projects after the upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest. James Spader is reported to reprise the role, with leaker Daniel Richtman noting Marvel “has plans for Ultron to return for multiple projects after Vision Quest.” (via ComicBookMovie.com)

Tony Stark and Bruce Banner originally created Ultron — an AI meant to ensure peace, but it turned against humanity. Vision ultimately destroyed him. Marvel describes the new series as “the third part of a trilogy that started with WandaVision and continued in Agatha All Along.” James Spader is set to portray Ultron in human form alongside several returning AI characters.

Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas now leads the series, having taken over from WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer. Matalas reportedly managed to impress the Marvel Studios bosses. The show will follow White Vision’s journey after his introduction at the end of WandaVision.

The cast features Emily Hampshire as a human version of E.D.I.T.H., the AI Tony Stark created and later passed to Peter Parker. T’nia Miller will portray Jocasta, described as “cunning, powerful, and driven by revenge.” Faran Tahir will come back as Raza from Iron Man (2008), while James D’Arcy will reportedly be reprising his role as Edwin Jarvis. Kerry Condon may play a human version of F.R.I.D.A.Y.

Filming for Vision began in March 2025, with a projected Disney+ release in 2026. The narrative will follow White Vision’s exploration of identity and purpose after departing at the end of WandaVision’s finale.
