A new rumor points to a fan-favorite villain appearing in Marvel Zombies, with indications that the character may be involved in the show’s alternate timeline. The report suggests a potential link between Baron Zemo’s past MCU appearances and the events of the upcoming animated series. This development places him among the growing list of characters expected to feature in the multiverse-based storyline.
Marvel Zombies is rumored to feature Baron Zemo as a character
Baron Zemo may appear in Marvel Zombies, the upcoming animated series premiering October 3, 2025, on Disney+. Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineHello posted on June 8, “Baron Zemo is in Marvel’s Zombies,” fueling speculation that the former Sokovian villain could return in zombified form or as part of the human survivor team.
Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed Zemo’s inclusion or whether Daniel Brühl will return to voice the character. Daniel Brühl last portrayed Helmut Zemo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021). The show ended with his imprisonment on the Raft. If he does not return, Marvel may recast the role for the animated series.
Set in the same universe as the “What If… Zombies?!” episode, Marvel Zombies follows a group of survivors, including Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Red Guardian, Kate Bishop, and Jimmy Woo, facing off against undead versions of former heroes like Captain America and Wanda Maximoff. The series is part of MCU’s Phase Six and marks Marvel Animation’s first TV-MA title.
In Marvel Comics, Baron Zemo briefly appears in the Marvel Zombies universe. The virus infects him and several Thunderbolts members, turning them into zombies. If the show adapts this storyline, it may portray Zemo as a strategic undead threat or a morally ambiguous ally in the post-apocalyptic setting.
Marvel Zombies is created by Zeb Wells and will run for four episodes. The series will expand the MCU’s multiverse offerings, introducing alternate versions of characters unbound by live-action continuity. Zemo’s rumored involvement adds to the anticipation for this darker, bloodier take on Marvel lore.
