Beloved Young & Restless Star Comes Back After Pneumonia Battle

Daytime veteran and Young and Restless star Eric Braeden has returned to the sets after a battle with pneumonia. The 84-year-old actor posted a video about his recovery from the disease and his happiness at reuniting with the cast of the famous soap opera.

Eric Braeden shares The Young and the Restless return update

Eric Braeden, who was sidelined from Young and Restless due to health issues over the past weeks, is back in action. He shared an update about his recent battle with pneumonia in a video he posted on Facebook.

“I had pneumonia for about two weeks,” the actor said in the video. Some of his family members, including his son and granddaughter, also got it. “Because of my age, [I] had it a bit worse than others. But I’m over it now,” he added.

Braeden continued, “How nice it is to come out of that kind of sickness….Pneumonia is no walk in the park. In fact, you can’t walk. That’s the point. It hits you like a ton of bricks,” expressing his gratitude to modern medicine that helped him get back on his feet.

Braeden explained that he was well enough to return to his routine, including exercise, but was taking things slowly. “One thing age has taught me: to be more careful that way,” the actor who plays Victor Newman said.

But he was very happy to get back to work. “I had to make up for not being there for two weeks,” he said. “So the last two or three weeks were a lot of work, a lot of days of double duty. But we survived it. I loved being back to work. Love being back with my colleagues. It was nice to see Melody and Joshua and Mark and Amelia [Heinle, Victoria] and… everyone, really. Michelle Stafford [Phyllis]. What a privilege to be able to go to work. It really is,” Braeden added.

Victor’s storyline on the show should continue without interruptions.
