Elizabeth Hurley shares Austin Powers throwback images as part of a viral trend
Elizabeth Hurley took to her Instagram to share pictures from Austin Powers as a part of the “What were you like in the ’90s?” trend. She captioned the post, “Oh, behave… this was my 90’s.” The video began with the 60-year-old in a printed red dress, and soon she skips to showing her iconic photos from the 90s. Every photo showcased Hurley’s stunning and unbeatable fashion statements.
In the first one, we see her posing with her then-boyfriend from the premiere of the 1994 film, Four Weddings and a Funeral. Her look in a black cutout Versace slit gown held by gold safety pins was viral everywhere. Following the popularity, the outfit began to be referred to as “THAT Dress.” Hurley also added a picture from Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. We see Hurley striking a goofy pose with her co-star, Mike Myers.
The diva looks gorgeous in a silver bodysuit with a matching neckline and boots, while Myers wears a navy blue suit. For the unaware, the 1997 film is a huge critical and commercial success. Hurley’s role as Vanessa Kensington also resonated well with the audience. She reprised the iconic character in the sequel, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. However, in the third and final chapter, she was replaced by Beyoncé.
In 2022, Hurley told PEOPLE how she would love to step into the shoes of Vanessa Kensington again. However, she demanded the comeback of Myers, who goes down as one of her favorite co-stars. She further added, “A brilliant man, fabulously kind and gentle and of course one of the best comedians on Earth.” The mother of one also felt her costume might need some upgrades. “I’m not sure I’d fit in my costumes again,” adding that she will have to do the film “in slightly different costumes.” Nevertheless, she stated, “Mike is a genius. It would be wonderful to do something with him again.”
