Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme co-star, Kevin O’Leary, loses a bet on his Oscar win yet shows support for him. Chalamet lost the Best Actor award to Michael B. Jordan. Ahead of the Oscars 2026, O’Leary spoke to Variety and defended Chalamet against recent criticism surrounding his comments on ballet and opera.

The Shark Tank host dished, “He’s a really great guy. I just put 1,000 bucks on Kalshi walking in here that he’s going to win, because I know the voting stops long before that controversy happened. The kid is a great kid. He took a bum rap on that. And by the way, gave a lot of promo to opera houses and ballet.”

Host Conan O’Brien couldn’t resist taking a jab at Chalamet for his controversial remarks on opera and ballet. O’Brien remarked, “Security is extremely tight tonight. I’m told there’s concern about attacks from both the opera and ballet community.” The camera panned on Chalamet and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, who smiled at the joke as the audience laughed. O’Brien continued, “You’re just mad you left out jazz!”

For those unversed, Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey appeared at the University of Texas, discussing efforts to preserve cinema. The Wonka star remarked, “I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore.’”

He quickly added, “All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there.” Unfortunately, the damage was already done. The Dune star took a swipe at his own statement and joked, “I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason” (via US Weekly).

Notably, Marty Supreme garnered nine nominations but unfortunately did not clock a single win at this year’s Oscars.
