A new Netflix movie featuring a beloved star from Supernatural and The Boys has received an important filming update. Jared Padalecki, who portrays Sam Winchester in all 15 seasons of Supernatural and will appear in the upcoming fifth and final season of The Boys, took to Instagram to reveal an update about his upcoming holiday romantic comedy Guarding Stars.

Padalecki revealed on Instagram that filming has wrapped for Guarding Stars. The 43-year-old actor shared multiple photos from Calgary, Alberta, where the production took place. “Hey Calgary. Thank you for letting this annoying Texan come and stay in your town for a hot second,” he wrote in the caption. “Y’all are incredible hosts, and I had an incredible time…. Hope that we all did you proud. Hope that we can all make it back soon.”
The Walker star added, “PS. If I may be so bold, maybe a little less snow next time?…
It sure was beautiful, but I sure was freezing my b—s off.”
The main cast of Guarding Stars also includes Leighton Meester, who has previously appeared in projects like Good Cop/Bad Cop, I Love LA, and The Buccaneers.
Additionally, Andie MacDowell, Noah LaLonde, Toby Sandeman, Rachael Ancheril, Phil Brooks, and Ava Max will play various roles in the movie. Walker Hayes, the country pop singer-songwriter, will make his acting debut with Guarding Stars. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum has directed the movie from a script by Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith. It is an adaptation of Katherine Center’s 2022 novel The Bodyguard (via Netflix Tudum).
The official log line for Guarding Stars reads, “When a no-nonsense bodyguard is assigned to protect a charming action star over the holidays, sparks fly, secrets unravel, and Christmas gets a whole lot more complicated.”
Given that Guarding Stars has completed its production in March, it will likely be ready to be released on Netflix in time for the holiday season in 2026.
