Fantastic Beasts star Callum Turner has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Daniel Craig, with many casting their vote for the charismatic actor to take on the iconic role of James Bond.

It all began during a press conference for Karim Aïnouz’s star-studded satire, Rosebush Pruning. A question caught Callum Turner off guard, bypassing the film’s other stars. The press conference was barely underway when a journalist asked Turner about the rumours linking him to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and the next film in the James Bond franchise being produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

Turner shifted in his seat, saying, “It’s very early for that question. I’m not going to comment on it, thank you,” (via Vanity Fair).

Although the Eternity actor dodged the topic with a polite smile, fans took the hint and ran with it. Many took to social media to weigh in on whether he has the 00 credentials to play Bond.

A recent Polymarket poll put him first in the running with 28%, trailing only the “No Bond chosen” crowd at 51%. Meanwhile, other contenders like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill are lagging behind with 4% and 3.7% respectively.

Fans are going wild over the Polymarket poll results showing Callum Turner as a strong contender for the next James Bond. “Callum Turner becoming the favorite for the next James Bond will definitely get fans talking,” posted a supporter. “Callum Turner becoming the favorite for James Bond would be an interesting new era for the franchise,” echoed another. “I really like this decision if true,” commented one X (formerly Twitter) user.

However, there has been no official confirmation from producers yet, making these discussions just speculation for now.
