A frightening incident at Rihanna’s Los Angeles property is now under investigation after authorities say a suspect allegedly opened fire toward the singer’s house. Police confirmed that a woman has been arrested in connection with the shooting, which reportedly occurred in broad daylight over the weekend. While no injuries have been reported, officials say the situation is being treated as an attempted murder case. The suspect is now reportedly being held on bail exceeding $10 million as investigators continue to piece together what happened.
Rihanna’s house shooting suspect reportedly held on $10.2 million bail
Law enforcement officials have identified the suspect accused of opening fire outside Rihanna’s Los Angeles home as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (via Fox 11), Ortiz was taken into custody shortly after the alleged shooting and has since been booked on a charge of attempted murder.
Authorities say the alarming incident took place Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:20 p.m. in the Beverly Crest neighborhood. Investigators allege that a woman arrived outside the gated property and began firing several rounds in the direction of the home.
Witnesses told police they heard what sounded like a rapid burst of gunfire. Some bullets reportedly struck the front gate and the entrance area behind it. Rihanna was confirmed to have been inside the house at the time of the alleged shooting, according to officials.
One nearby resident described the unsettling moment the gunfire rang out. “It was scary… I can’t imagine being in the house because you’re hearing the bullets hitting,” the neighbor recalled. “… It was just jarring, very jarring in the middle of a nice Sunday afternoon.”
Police say the suspect allegedly fled the scene in a white Tesla with paper license plates. The LAPD’s air unit reportedly located the vehicle and tracked it as it traveled toward the San Fernando Valley. Officers later detained the driver at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping complex.
Authorities confirmed Monday that her bail was set at $10,225,000, and she remains in custody while the case proceeds. Currently, investigators say it’s unclear whether the suspect had any personal connection to Rihanna or her partner, A$AP Rocky. Reports have also surfaced suggesting Ortiz may have posted messages referencing Rihanna on social media weeks before the shooting.
