Paul Anthony Kelly’s Love Story Creates a Massive Disney+ & Hulu Record

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette has officially become FX’s most-watched limited series ever on both Hulu and Disney+. The series, which features a breakout performance from Paul Anthony Kelly, is resonating with viewers in record numbers.

Love Story is FX’s most watched limited series on Disney+ and Hulu

Since its premiere on February 12, the first five episodes of Paul Anthony Kelly’s starrer have accumulated more than 25 million streaming hours. But what makes this feat particularly impressive is the Love Story’s staying power. FX reports that Episode 5 saw a 51% viewership increase compared to the premiere, indicating that word-of-mouth is driving continuous growth.

The man at the center of this success, Paul Anthony Kelly, has helped ignite a cultural moment. His take on John F. Kennedy Jr., opposite Sarah Pidgeon’s Carolyn Bessette, has enraptured audiences and sparked unprecedented engagement on social platforms. TikTok searches for both historical figures surged by over 9,100% in the last month alone. The hashtag #lovestory has generated more than 21 million posts globally, demonstrating the series’s pop culture appeal.

Love Story transports viewers to 1990s New York, chronicling the romance and eventual tragedy of America’s most famous couple. Supporting performances from Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie O, and Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein add nuance to this richly textured production.

Created by Connor Hines, the limited series boasts an impressive production team, too, including Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and others. 20th Television produces, with Max Winkler directing the pilot.

This renewed fascination extends beyond digital spaces into tangible consumer behavior. C.O. Bigelow, the historic pharmacy featured in the series selling Bessette’s signature tortoise shell headband, has moved more of these accessories than at any point in its 188-year history. Meanwhile, The New York Post reports that Panna II, the East Village Indian restaurant where the couple shares their first date in the series, has seen reservations jump 40% (via Variety).

Love Story’s Episode 6 is airing on March 5 on FX and will then be available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.
