Roma Roth confirmed that Scott Patterson will not appear in Season 4 of the CW drama Sullivan’s Crossing. Patterson plays Harry “Sully” Sullivan, the campground owner whose property gives the series its title. The character departed for Ireland during the Season 3 finale, and the new season will continue the story.
Roth clarified how the timeline unfolds. Season 4 starts immediately after the events of the previous finale. In a statement, she explained that the story resumes the very next day after Sully leaves to start a new phase of his life overseas. She also clarified that Sully is not being written out of the show’s universe (via Entertainment Weekly).
The character will simply not appear on screen during this season. According to Roth, he still exists within the world of the series. That leaves the door open for a potential comeback in future seasons if the story eventually calls for it. “While he isn’t physically present in this season, the character remains an important part of the world with the potential to be included in future seasons should that align with the ongoing creative,” Roth said.
Sully’s exit was written into the storyline during the Season 3 finale. The character traveled to Ireland with his girlfriend, Helen, who was working on adapting her novel for TV. Before leaving, he told his daughter Maggie he planned to return to the campground. However, the new season will reveal that Sully has decided to remain abroad for now.
