King addressed the uncertainty surrounding her future in a statement. “Rumors of my demise were inaccurate and greatly exaggerated,” she said, referencing an October Variety report that claimed she was expected to leave the show when her contract expired in May.
At the time, sources indicated King might shift to a production deal or other role within the company. “CBS News is my longtime home, and I am committed to our mission,” King added. “I’m excited about continuing at ‘CBS Mornings.’ It took a minute, but we got there. The new agreement is seen as a win for CBS News and its new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss.
