Timothée Chalamet’s Former Co-Stars Give Him a Career ‘Reality Check’

Timothée Chalamet may be an Oscar nominee and global star, but recently, his former Homeland castmates lightheartedly reminded him where it all began. During a playful reunion at the 2026 Actor Awards, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis joked that they helped shape his early career, and they wanted credit.

Claire Danes and Damian Lewis walked onstage together to present Best Ensemble in a Drama Series. They immediately leaned into their shared past. Lewis asked Danes if Homeland ever won in that category. She quickly answered no and joked that they were back for a “rematch.”

Lewis kept the bit going. He laughed about losing to heavyweights like Downton Abbey and Breaking Bad. Then he playfully called out Bryan Cranston and Michelle Dockery, saying they love them, but they are “going down.” The friendly trash talk warmed up the crowd and set the stage for their next punchline about Timothée Chalamet.

Danes reminded the crowd that their cast included talents like F. Murray Abraham and Mandy Patinkin. Then she shifted to a familiar name. She pointed out that Timothée Chalamet once appeared on their show. Further, she joked that maybe that is where he “learned…to handle the stress of a Safdie film (via Entertainment Weekly).” For those not in the know, years before headlining big films like Dune, he held a recurring role on Homeland in 2012. He played Finn, the troubled son of Vice President Walden and Dana Brody’s love interest.

Damian Lewis jumped in, saying, “We made you, Timothée. Just saying. And we’re ready for a recount.” Later in the ceremony, Chalamet returned to the stage with his Marty Supreme cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion and Tyler, the Creator, to present their nominated ensemble.

Notably, in 2013, the Call Me by Your Name star picked up an ensemble nomination for his eight-episode run. Since then, his career has gone full throttle. He has scored four Oscar nominations, three for acting and one as a producer on Marty Supreme.
