Jim Carrey’s recent appearance at the 51st Cesar Awards has sparked an online debate with many questioning whether the actor has been replaced by an impersonator. A video of the Bruce Almighty star giving a speech at the ceremony quickly went viral, as netizens commented on his rare appearance.

His acceptance award video shows Carrey dressed in a black tuxedo with longer, dark hair as he spoke in French while accepting his award.

Fans have since taken to social media to point out how surprising it is to see the actor accepting the award and his energy during a video interview following the event, with some even speculating that he is not the real Jim Carrey but an impersonator.

“No way this is the real Jim,” one fan commented, while another suggested, “That’s not him. Jim Carrey’s always had brown eyes prominent brown eyes. This is the worst impersonation ever” (via New York Post).

Amid the rumors, many fans have come to his defense, stating that he looks the same as he did last November when he attended the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. “Leave the man alone,” one fan wrote, while another called him an “Absolute legend.”

Jim Carrey attended the 51st Cesar Awards in Paris on Thursday, where he received the lifetime achievement Cesar d’honneur. During a heartfelt acceptance speech, the actor paid tribute to late father. He spoke entirely in French and even joked, “How was my French? Almost mediocre, right?”
