Shia LaBeouf addressed his recent arrest, reflecting on what led to the altercation. In an interview with Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, posted on YouTube on Saturday, the actor acknowledged his personal mistakes. However, he stated that he does not believe that rehab is the solution.

“My behavior [was] bulls—. I gotta deal with that,” LaBeouf said, recalling the alleged physical altercation that led to his arrest during the Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans. He added, “Does that mean I gotta go to rehab again? I’m just not into it. I don’t think my answers are there. I just don’t …I genuinely don’t. If I genuinely did, I’d go.”

LaBeouf further reflected that his personal struggles stem from anger issues instead of alcohol. “I don’t think I have a drinking problem,” the Transformers star said. He added, “I think I have a different problem, and I’m gonna address it … I think I have a small man complex. I think it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more than my drinking.”

In conclusion, LaBeouf said, “That’s where I’m at now on my journey, and I’m trying to navigate it. I’ll figure it out.” At one point during the interview, LaBeouf also revealed that he has not been sober for almost nine months.

Shia LaBeouf was involved in an alleged physical altercation at the Royal Street Inn & R Bar in New Orleans. He was arrested in New Orleans on February 17 on two counts of misdemeanor battery. A judge later revoked his initial release without bail and ordered the actor to undergo drug testing, participate in a substance abuse treatment, and post a bond of $100,000 bond as part of the conditions for his release.

Following a second arrest on February 28, LaBeouf posted a $5,000 bond and was later released from custody (via The Guardian).
