Tom Brady recently showered immense praise on Gianni Infantino ahead of the 2026 World Cup, calling him a “man of the people.” The comment, however, did not sit well with many on social media. Critics were quick to slam Brady’s remark, pushing back on his stance and reminding him that several concerns over FIFA’s surging prices remain unaddressed to date.
Tom Brady faces backlash for praising Gianni Infantino
During a conversation with FOX Sports, Brady appreciated the leadership of Infantino, who has been the president of FIFA since 2016. He said, “The turnaround really starts with tremendous leadership at the top and what Gianni has done in terms of his leadership, his inclusion. I think Gianni is a man of the people, and he’s always out there celebrating the great parts of the sport. I think he’s made great contributions to the world of football.”
He revealed that he is grateful to know Infantino personally and to understand the values he stands for, adding that he believes those principles are clearly reflected in his ambitions for the sport. He further elaborated, “And getting a chance to know him and understand the kind of person he is, the values he represents, I think that really showcases itself within the broader goals of what football is all about. Football is for everyone. It’s a chance for all of us to connect, globally, over something that we love.”
As soon as Fox News posted the clip of Brady’s interview, fans were quick to enter the comment section to share their differing views on the topic. One user said, “This is maybe the worst take ever. FIFA have awarded hosting to countries with no football heritage such as Qatar, US and Saudi and hiked up ticket prices.”
Another added, “Yeah, they don’t life in reality anymore. There was a time, where i could watch all the best football leagues for 30$ a month, now this is impossible since Infantino took over.” Another fan sarcastically mentioned, “Men of the people and the tickets cost an arm and a leg.” A fourth fan wrote, “Why are you promoting this? Honestly why? Genuinely curious how you justify this.”
