‘I Come First’: Halle Berry Is Done Faking an Orgasm

Halle Berry has opened up about a personal change she has made in her sex life. During a recent interview, the Oscar-winning actress said she no longer pretends to reach orgasm simply to spare a partner’s feelings.

Halle Berry discusses her sex life

During a recent podcast appearance, Halle Berry spoke candidly about how her views on intimacy have changed over time, saying she no longer feels the need to pretend in a relationship. The actress shared the comments while appearing on the Sex With Emily podcast, where she reflected on how women are often conditioned to protect their partner’s feelings.

Berry said that earlier in her life, she sometimes felt pressure to reassure partners. “I don’t do that anymore,” she added. According to the actress, many women were conditioned to prioritize a partner’s ego over their own needs. She said, “We had to get there so that he felt good about bringing us to orgasm. We had to say that we did it so that he would feel good about himself.”

Berry questioned that dynamic, noting that it ultimately placed one person’s satisfaction ahead of the other. She said, “Because what is that doing? That’s putting his needs before our own.” The actress made clear that her outlook has since shifted. She added, “I’m like, ‘No, I come first like you come first to you.’”

Berry believes both partners should feel equally satisfied. She explained, “We both deserve to have this be a mutually enjoyable experience, so we both can roll over and go to sleep because we feel good — not one snoring and the other one looking at the ceiling, going, ‘What the hell?’”

The actress has previously spoken about how her relationship with musician Van Hunt changed her outlook on love and intimacy. In a past interview with Marie Claire, she said the relationship felt different from her previous experiences. “It was the first time I was madly in love before I had sex,” she said.
