Kingsman Star Rejects James Bond Rumors, Claims ‘Don’t Think I’m Right’

The Bond buzz is building, and rumors are swirling around one of Hollywood’s promising young actors. The Kingsman star‘s impressive performances have sparked whispers about the role synonymous with debonair charm and high-stakes adventure. However, the actor recently put to rest any notions that he might be the next James Bond.

Kingsman’s Taron Egerton on James Bond rumors

Taron Egerton has finally addressed rumors about potentially playing James Bond, saying he doesn’t see himself in the role. The Welsh actor’s standout performances in films have cemented his status as a rising star in British cinema, making him a top contender to take the reins from Daniel Craig.

However, in a recent red carpet chat with Variety AU/NZ, Taron Egerton ruled out the possibility. He expressed his reservations about fitting into the shoes of the legendary secret agent, stating that he doesn’t see himself fit for the role.

“I don’t think I’m right for James Bond,” the 36-year-old said. “I’ve never felt that that was me.”

Egerton added, “I think there’s great candidates for it, and I think it’s obviously a huge cinematic institution. I don’t want to be dismissive about it as a thing. I just feel that my path is less… kind of grand and idealised.”

Taron Egerton has previously dismissed speculation about playing James Bond in a 2025 Collider interview. He expressed doubts about suiting up for Amazon’s take on the franchise.

The actor’s comments come as no surprise to fans who have watched him take on bold, unorthodox roles in films like Rocketman and Testament of Youth. With a string of impressive performances under his belt, Taron Egerton is carving out his own unique path in the world of cinema.

Taron Egerton recently starred in the action film She Rides Shotgun (released August 2025), the Apple TV+ crime series Smoke (released June 2025), and the Netflix thriller Carry-On (released December 2024). Additionally, his forthcoming projects include the survival thriller film Apex (releasing in April 2026) and Kingsman: The Blue Blood.
