Elle Fanning shares new video on Dakota Fanning’s birthday

On Monday, February 23, Elle Fanning posted a short clip of herself dancing with her older sister, actress Dakota Fanning’s 32nd birthday, seemingly at a party. In the Instagram video, the siblings wear coordinated outfits while grooving to Donna Lewis’s “Always Forever.”

The Sentimental Value actress captioned the post, “Our song. Your birthday. My sister. She is the coolest person anyone will ever meet, and I’m the lucky one who gets to call her mine! I love you @dakotafanning.”

Both Dakota and Elle have been in the industry from an early age. The former began her career at the age of five, starring in commercials. She later made her television debut with a guest role on ER, followed by appearances on CSI and other popular television series.

Dakota made her feature film debut with I Am Sam in 2001, starring alongside Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer, a role that gained her widespread recognition. She went on to appear in projects like The War of the Worlds, Caroline, The Twilight series, and Netflix’s Ripley. She also received a Primetime Emmy nomination under the Supporting Role category for her role as Marge Sherwood in the Netflix psychological drama.

Elle had a similar trajectory, beginning her career by portraying younger versions of her sister’s characters in I Am Sam and the mini-series Taken. She made her feature film debut with Daddy Day Care in 2003, starring alongside Eddie Murphy. Elle later appeared in projects like House, Criminal Minds, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Maleficent. Her recent work in Sentimental Value earned Elle her first Oscar nomination.

Together, the sisters voiced the young siblings in Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro. They will star alongside each other in the historical fiction The Nightingale, currently set to release on February 12, 2027.
