Flavor Flav took to Bluesky to invite the US Women’s Hockey Team with a brief message and a gif, which expressed excitement along with the caption “yeah boyyy.” He wrote, “If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite, I’ll host them in Las Vegas. Do some nice dinners and shows and good times.” Assuring that all arrangements would be taken care of by him, he further added, “I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.”

His invitation comes in light of the U.S. women’s hockey team turning down the White House invitation to attend the State of the Union celebration. The decision came after President Donald Trump joked to the U.S. men’s hockey team that he had to invite the women’s team as well; otherwise, he would probably be “impeached.”

Responding to the invitation, a spokesperson from the team said, “We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal–winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement. Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate.”

After publicly inviting them, Flavor Flav also took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the formal email he sent to the team. In the email, he also addressed that he heard the news that the White House had invited the men’s team, but “not quite” the women’s team. That’s when he came up with the idea of throwing a real celebration for the team and shared an official invite.
