Floyd Mayweather Announces Return To Boxing Ahead of Mike Tyson Bout

In an exciting announcement, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has confirmed that he’s returning to the ring. Mayweather’s comeback is set against the backdrop of a highly anticipated bout with fellow boxing icon Mike Tyson. While details are still emerging, the timing is certainly intriguing, sparking frenzy among fans.

Floyd Mayweather returns to boxing ahead of Mike Tyson fight

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is resuming his boxing career, with an eagerly awaited exhibition match against Mike Tyson on the horizon.

The boxing pro is trading in his retirement for a comeback, just days shy of his 49th birthday. He has inked a deal with CSI Sports/Fight Sports to promote his upcoming bouts. Mayweather is kicking things off with an exhibition match against Mike Tyson in spring 2026.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. had hung up his gloves in 2017, aged 40, with an unbeaten 50-0 record, 27 wins by stoppage, after conquering MMA star Conor McGregor. He has since stepped back into the ring for exhibitions with Logan Paul, Mikuru Asakura, and John Gotti III.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather’s written statement to ESPN read. “From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards — no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience, and generate more money with each event — than my events. And I plan to keep doing it with my global media partner, CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS.”

“Signing Floyd Mayweather to un-retire after he captures another worldwide audience with his Mike Tyson match-up, highlights our commitment to providing our global audience with the most high-profile fighters in the sport,” read the co-founders of CSI Sports/Fight Sports, Richard and Craig Miele’s statement.

Mayweather and Tyson’s exhibition match is set for spring 2026, as announced last September. Rumors indicate that April 25 is being speculated as the date in the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, ESPN hasn’t confirmed this, and broadcast plans are still unclear. While details are scarce, boxing enthusiasts are of the opinion that this could be one of the most epic matchups in recent history.
