Jamie Foxx said this about Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo’s BAFTA incident

Jamie Foxx has weighed in on the shocking incident involving Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo at the 79th British Academy Film Awards. For those unaware, an astonishing moment marred the prestigious BAFTA award ceremony when Tourette’s syndrome activist John Davidson unexpectedly shouted the N-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were onstage, presenting the night’s first award.

Foxx has since responded to the controversy surrounding the incident, commenting, “nah he meant that shit,” under an Instagram post about the explosive moment. He added, “Out of all the words, you could’ve said Tourette’s makes you say that?” Foxx further chimed in with “Unacceptable,” conveying his disappointment.

Meanwhile, host Alan Cumming swiftly addressed the jarring outburst. He reassured the audience that the distressing language was involuntary due to Davidson’s Tourette’s syndrome. Cumming extended gratitude for the attendees’ understanding and clarified that the condition can cause uncontrollable vocal tics.

As for the internet, it remains divided on Foxx’s response to the BAFTA incident. Some fans backed him, feeling it was a justified reaction to the hurtful language directed at Jordan and Lindo. Others, however, defended Davidson, citing the need for understanding.

Davidson, a guest and subject of a BAFTA-nominated film, also shouted “shut the f_ck up” and “f_ck you” during the show. Ahead of the ceremony, organizers had warned the audience about possible disruptions due to his Tourette’s syndrome.

The film, I Swear, tells Davidson’s story, a Scottish Tourette’s syndrome campaigner who developed the condition at 12. It snagged two wins, including Best Lead Performance for Robert Aramayo’s portrayal of Davidson.
