Ex-Prince Andrew’s Marsh Farm Staff Will Continue to Call Him ‘Sir’ — Source

Ex-Prince Andrew’s transition away from royal life is reportedly bringing major lifestyle changes, but not a complete break from tradition. A source claims staff linked to his Marsh Farm residence have been instructed to address him as “Sir,” even after his titles were removed. The alleged move comes as he prepares for a scaled-back household and a more private existence. Observers say the shift reflects a significant reset in how the former royal now lives.

Ex-Prince Andrew’s ‘climbdown’ in Marsh Farm staff with only chef and valet, says source

According to claims reported by The Sun, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is expected to have only a small support team once he settles into Marsh Farm, a property currently being renovated on the Sandringham estate. A source alleged that the household will consist of just two personal staff members: a chef and a valet. As per the insider, this is a significant “climbdown” from the extensive teams that previously supported him.

The source claimed confusion initially arose among employees over how to address Andrew after his royal titles were removed. “He’s lost his HRH, prince and duke titles,” the source reportedly said. They added that the staff was told he should still be addressed as “Sir.” The instruction, according to the claim, was intended to maintain a level of formality despite his changed status.

The reported downsizing contrasts sharply with Andrew’s earlier living arrangements. At Royal Lodge in Windsor and during his time using palace residences, he was said to have had multiple valets, chefs, housekeepers, and additional household staff. The new arrangement, insiders allege, reflects a simpler setup tied to his relocation and retirement from public royal duties.

For now, Andrew is believed to be staying at Wood Farm while renovations at Marsh Farm continue. Sources claim the move has faced delays, with work slowing in recent weeks despite upgrades such as added security features and interior refurbishments. One insider alleged the property is “not as luxurious” as homes he previously occupied.

Reports also suggest staffing for Marsh Farm has yet to be finalized, with recruitment still ongoing. Until then, Andrew is said to be largely accompanied by security personnel and his dogs while awaiting the completion of the residence.
