Prime Video’s Erotic Thriller Show Is Dominating on Streaming

A new erotic thriller series has established itself as a dominant force on Prime Video following its debut. Thanks to strong viewership, 56 Days has become a streaming success, securing a spot as one of the streamer’s most-viewed shows. It has also managed to rank very high on streaming analytics charts.

The show is based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel of the same name. It follows two people, Oliver and Ciara, played by Avan Jogia and Dove Cameron. The two start an intense relationship that appears to have ended in murder.

56 Days proves to be a streaming success

As of February 19, 2026, Prime Video’s erotic thriller 56 Days is the #3 show on Prime Video globally. It is also the #4 show in the United States (via FlixPatrol).

Accordingly, the show is outranked by Mr. Beast’s Beast Games and Fallout, which are #1 and #2, respectively. However, it surpasses Cross (#4), Steal (#5), The Night Manager (#6), Yo soy Betty la fea (#7), Spring Fever (#8), The Summer I Turned Pretty (#9), and Las de siempre (#10).

The series holds a 62% critical score and 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes as of writing. Meanwhile, on Metacritic, the show has garnered a Metascore of 54, denoting “mixed or average reception.”

Critical reviews for 56 Days seem to be mixed, based on the aforementioned Metascore. In her review for Variety, Aramide Tinubu praised the series, calling it “engaging.” She also noted that while certain twists of the show were predictable compared to others, it “[thrived] because the audience never quite knows what to expect.”

Meanwhile, in her review for Collider, Jasneet Singh wrote that while the series suffered from “mishaps” in the initial episodes, it nonetheless knew “where it’s going and how much it wants to break viewers’ hearts while getting there.”

However, writing for Decider, Joel Keller had a more negative perspective on the series. He wrote, “56 Days is supposed to show the erotic chemistry between two people that led to a wild affair then a gruesome murder. But the affair feels artificial and the investigation of the murder feels excruciatingly drawn out, and the timeline jumping makes the show tiring to watch.”

All eight episodes of 56 Days are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher co-created the series. They also executive-produced it alongside James Wan.
