Jason Bateman recently shared his favorite movie of 2025. The film features his former costar, Julia Garner.
Jason Bateman’s favorite movie of 2025 is Weapons
Jason Bateman spoke about his favorite movies of 2025 during his The Hollywood Reporter cover shoot. He said this year had many amazing movies. “The films this year were stunning,” Bateman shared. He added that he would have loved to be part of several projects, even if it meant just being on set and watching talented filmmakers at work.
He praised directors Paul Thomas Anderson and Josh Safdie for their standout work, with Anderson directing One Battle After Another and Safdie helming Marty Supreme. Still, one movie he liked the most was Weapons.
He said, “I had the most fun with this year. I watched it three times in five days it was Weapons.” He praised director Zach Cregger for doing a “perfect job” with the movie. “I think Zach Cregger just did a perfect job for me, for my taste, and obviously for his taste with that film.”
“That could have been something much simpler than it ended up being. I don’t think it needed to be as great as it was, but through his taste, um, and that great cast and crew. They just, it was just a blast (from) beginning to end, in real tasteful ways.”
Weapons features a strong ensemble cast, including Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Amy Madigan and Julia Garner. Garner previously worked with Bateman for multiple seasons on Ozark, making his praise for the movie even more meaningful.
Zach Cregger directed the 2025 mystery-horror movie Weapons, which received rave reviews from critics.
