Bad Bunny Makes History After Super Bowl Halftime Show

Bad Bunny’s “DTMF” earns the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. It is Benito’s first solo song to achieve this feat after his headline-making Super Bowl Halftime show on February 8. Notably, the singer is on a roll after clocking multiple wins at the recently concluded Grammy Awards and representing his Puerto Rican heritage at the Super Bowl.

Bad Bunny’s song reaches new milestone

Bad Bunny’s “DTMF” clocks a new milestone by ranking number one on Billboard’s Hot 100. Benito previously charted at the number one spot for the song “I Like It” with Cardi B and J. Balvin in July 2018. This is his first solo and second overall ranking on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (via Billboard).

At the time of its release in January 2025, “DTMF” nearly missed the number one spot by ranking number two. However, post his Super Bowl success, “DTMF” jumped from number 10 to number 1 on the Hot 100 chart. The 31-year-old now has four songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100.

Benito played “DTMF” as the closing song for his Super Bowl halftime show. He performed all four songs at the Super Bowl.

Interestingly, the Puerto Rican star has performed both of his Hot 100 number-one songs at the Super Bowl. Notably, he guested on “I Like It” during Shakira’s halftime show in 2020.

In simpler words, Benito is currently dominating the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Two other songs from DTMF — “Baile Inolvidable” and “Nuevayol” — are placed at numbers 2 and 5, respectively. Additionally, another song titled “Tití Me Preguntó” from his 2022 album Un Verano Sin Ti re-entered the top 10 and sits comfortably at number 7.

Furthermore, “DTMF” is the first predominantly Spanish-language Hot 100 number-one led by a soloist without any collaboration. Other Spanish-language singles include “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee (feat. Justin Bieber), “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” by Los Del Río, and “La Bamba” by Los Lobos.

According to NBC Sports, Benito’s Super Bowl Halftime show averaged 128.2 million viewers in the U.S. This feat makes it the third most-watched Super Bowl show in history and earned mostly positive responses from fans online (via USA Today).
