Apple’s Next Budget Macbook Could Add New Color Options

There have been rumors of a cheaper MacBook for quite a while now, with many claiming that Apple would build one around the A18 chip in a bid to gain market share in a zone where the company does not exist. A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that this new supposed cheaper MacBook could come in a variety of fun colors that would differentiate it substantially from the existing range of products.

Apple’s new budget MacBook may come in colors

Rumors have circulated for a long time about MacBook getting a cheaper model powered by the A18 chip. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has now reported that Apple will launch this new product at its “event” in March. The new report also claims that the new MacBook line could come in a range of exciting colors, which would distinguish it from the existing Air and Pro lineups.

Major Mac rumors have hinted at a new MacBook featuring the M5 processor and MacBook Pros using OLED displays. But the prospect of a cheaper MacBook, giving users access to Apple’s ecosystem without the usual cost, is perhaps the most exciting one.

As per reports, the new MacBook lineup could use an A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 lineup, instead of the Mac-optimized Apple Silicon. This could significantly cut costs.

Guman further reports that the new MacBook lineups could feature a slightly smaller screen (just below 13 inches). He also adds that the new models will not be plastic, which would have been cost-efficient.

As for the colors, Guman has reported that Apple has tested light yellow, light green, blue, pink, classic silver, and dark gray, but has not settled on any of them.

Previous reports have suggested that the new Apple devices could cost around $699, which is significantly cheaper than the cheapest MacBook Airs.

While the concerns about the performance will remain, this lineup would allow users to enter the Apple ecosystem on a budget.
