Bill Maher made an explicit joke about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift during a recent episode of his show. The Real Time With Bill Maher host used their engagement to make a point about modern romance and also touched on everything from bestselling books to Swift’s latest album lyrics.
Bill Maher jokes about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift
While discussing the “romantasy” genre, Bill Maher on the February 13 episode of his show, referenced the novel Morning Glory Milking Farm and said: “One thing leads to another and she winds up fu**ing a guy who’s half bull, which brings me to Taylor Swift.”
As a photo of Swift and Travis Kelce appeared onscreen, Maher pivoted to the singer’s dating history. “Hear me out. I think Taylor Swift epitomizes the journey a lot of women have been going through. Yes, women wanted men to be more sensitive — sensitive, but not some noodle-bodied human turtleneck who wears the same clothes they do.”
He continued: “Taylor Swift went from writing songs about what a d**k this guy was to her, and what a d**k this guy was to her, to what a d**k this guy has.” Maher framed the comment as a contrast between Swift’s past partners and Travis Kelce’s “old school” persona.
Swift announced her engagement to Kelce in August 2025. Her October album The Life of a Showgirl includes the track “Wood,” which leans heavily into innuendo. In the post-chorus, she sings: “Forgive me, it sounds cocky / He ah-matized me and opened my eyes / Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see / His love was the key that opened my thighs.” The song also references Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, with the lyric: “New Heights (New Heights) of manhood (Manhood).”
Kelce reacted on the podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce, saying: “It’s a great song!” Jason added, “I think inserting wood innuendos is always childish enough for me that I can get on board with that.” The segment has since circulated widely online.
