Margot Robbie’s Male Co-Star Hinted She Should Lose Weight

During her rise in Hollywood, Margot Robbie has heard many opinions in the industry, but one moment from a male co-star suggesting she should lose weight still stands out to her. During a new video interview with Complex, the actor and producer recalled a “gift” from the titular co-star. She recalled how the “gift” did not feel like a gift at all, and she made it clear that she understood the subliminal message behind it.

Margot Robbie was once handed a book on weight management by her co-star

Margot Robbie shared that her male co-star had suggested that she should lose weight while appearing on Complex’s “GOAT Talk” alongside Charli xcx. The two sat down ahead of the releases of “Wuthering Heights” and “The Moment.” Their chat covered everything from favorite films to party habits. Then the show asked about the worst gift they had ever received, and Robbie’s answer shocked Charli.

The “Barbie” alum revealed, “Very, very early in my career, an actor I worked with, a male actor, gave me a book called ‘Why French Women Don’t Get Fat,’ and it was essentially a book telling you to eat less.” She did not hide her reaction either, adding, “I was like, ‘Whoa, f**k you, dude.’”

Robbie said it happened a long time ago, and when Charli asked if the man still worked, Robbie answered, “I have no idea where he would even be now. This was really back in the day.”

She also spelled out what she believed the “gift” meant. According to Robbie, “He essentially gave me a book to let me know that I should lose weight. I was like, ‘Wow.’” Though she did not name the co-star or connect the incident to any specific project, the comment reflected how often young actors deal with remarks with covert meanings.

Robbie remembered the hidden comment on her weight clearly, and she did not shy away from revealing it to the world.
