Ryan Gosling’s partner Eva Mendes revealed she is jealous of his alien co-star in his new movie Project Hail Mary. Entertainment outlet Just Jared shared a poster of Gosling’s upcoming movie. The Notebook star’s partner commented, “His only costar I’ve ever been jealous of…Rocky. They spent wayyy too much time together. They even got each others rings. WTF!!?” The comment was accompanied by a slew of emojis.
Project Hail Mary is a science fiction comedy that stars Gosling in the lead role alongside Sandra Hüller, Ken Leung, and Lionel Boyce. Andy Weir’s eponymous 2021 novel serves as the base for the movie. Gosling portrays Ryland Grace, a science teacher turned astronaut who is sent to outer space on a crucial mission to save Earth from a cataclysmic event.
In a trailer that dropped in June last year, Gosling’s Grace meets an alien on his journey through space. The mysterious brown alien, Rocky, has multiple legs. Voice actor James Ortiz voices Rocky in the movie. Grace and Rocky join forces to save their respective planets in a hilarious and thrilling joyride (via PEOPLE).
Fans were surprised to see Mendes’ comment on Just Jared’s post. Fans are aware that the couple is intensely private about their relationship and children. The couple has made only a few joint public appearances and shared no photos together on social media.
Nonetheless, that hasn’t stopped the Ghost Rider star from cheering for Gosling. Mendes had previously shared Project Hail Mary’s trailer on her Instagram and invited fans to the film’s premiere on her partner’s behalf. Project Hail Mary releases in cinemas on March 20.
