Fans of Hulu’s addictive drama Tell Me Lies are on edge, waiting to hear if the story of Lucy, Stephen, and their tangled web of friends will continue. Despite the show’s popularity, growing evidence suggests that Season 3 may be the series’ intended finale, casting serious doubt on the renewal of Tell Me Lies for a Season 4.
Tell Me Lies could end with Season 3 and not Season 4
Uncertainty around Tell Me Lies Season 4 began earlier this year when showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer said she had “always thought” that Season 3 would be “more or less the ending” she envisioned for the story. That comment suggested that the third season was structured to bring the story to a close rather than extend it (via US Weekly).
Now, actor Spencer House, who plays Wrigley, has reinforced that idea. Speaking to The Direct ahead of the Season 3 finale, House confirmed that he was aware of Oppenheimer’s intention to treat this season as the ending of Tell Me Lies. “You know, there’s always the chance that a show will create another season, and whether or not that happens, that remains to be seen for the audience. But I do know that Meaghan intended for the end of this season, Season 3, to be the end of this story.”
House added that continuing beyond this point would require a fresh creative approach rather than a direct extension of the existing arc. “So if there’s a season four, they’ll have to go back to the drawing board, but this is what was intended.”
Moreover, with only one episode left in Tell Me Lies Season 3, the finale is going to resolve long-running storylines rather than introduce new ones. The remaining episode is expected to address the emotional fallout surrounding Lucy, Stephen, Bree, Wrigley, Evan, and Pippa, potentially avoiding major cliffhangers that would typically set up another season.
So, based on the comments from both the showrunner and cast, Tell Me Lies Season 4 appears far from guaranteed.
