Idris Elba’s Hijack is beating all competition on Apple TV
Idris Elba’s action thriller Hijack is outperforming every other series on Apple TV+. It has climbed to the top of the platform’s television rankings on February 6, 2026, according to data from FlixPatrol. The thriller has overtaken several high-profile titles, including Shrinking, Pluribus, and Tehran.
Since January 31, the series has repeatedly ranked number one in countries such as the United Kingdom, the Philippines, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong. The rise in viewership comes as the show’s second season continues its release.
Hijack returned after strong audience demand following its 2023 debut. That first season followed Elba’s Sam Nelson during a midair takeover while he was traveling to see his former partner. Season 2 debuted on January 14, 2026, and is being released weekly, with its final episode scheduled to arrive on March 4, 2026.
Elba’s Nelson is a highly skilled negotiator who becomes trapped in another life-threatening crisis. Set two years after the hijacking of Kingdom Airlines Flight KA29, the new season shifts the action to Berlin, where a hostage situation breaks out in the city’s underground transit system near a U-Bahn station, placing hundreds of commuters in danger.
Other cast members for the season include Christine Adams as Marsha Smith Nelson, Max Beesley as DI Daniel O’Farrel, Archie Panjabi as DCI Zahra Gahfoor, and Ian Burfield as John Bailey Brown.
Overall, critics and viewers’ responses to the series have been favorable. On Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 currently holds a 72 percent score from critics and a 66 percent audience rating.
