Liam Neeson Horror Movie Debuts With Promising Score on RT

Liam Neeson‘s new horror-comedy movie Cold Storage has received a largely positive response from critics ahead of its release. Reviews praise the film for its strong entertainment value. Thanks to the positive response, the film has managed to achieve an impressive score on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

What critics are saying about Cold Storage

Reviews for Cold Storage praise the film for being entertaining and highlight the performances as being one of its main selling points, particularly those of Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s David Rooney noted in his review that the film had a “likeably cheesy retro vibe” to its story. He added the movie was “more diverting” than expected, which he attributed to the performances of the main cast. Rooney also commended the film’s “gross-out makeup,” which he noted wasn’t “overly slick.” He further stated, “To its credit, this is a movie that knows better than to take itself too seriously. It’s painless enough though could have been more than that with a thorough script polish.”

Meanwhile, Collider‘s Nate Richard, who labeled the film “a spiritual cousin to Zombieland and Slither,” called the movie “a great deal of fun.” He noted that while the film wasn’t “particularly intense,” it was “entertaining and satisfying.” Further, he praised Keery and Campbell’s chemistry, calling them “an incredibly charismatic duo” and noting that they matched the film’s energy. He also praised the film’s runtime, writing, “It’s quick and breezy, and for a horror-comedy, it’s the perfect length.”

FandomWire‘s Joshua Ryan called the film’s story “largely predictable.” However, he said that the “charms of its three leads and Jonny Campbell’s clear understanding of the material” ensured it was an “entertaining romp that benefits from a large screen, a bucket of buttery popcorn, and a rowdy audience.” He also praised Keery and Campbell’s on-screen chemistry, which he called “electric.”

Ryan also added that the film accomplishes its intended objective: delivering a simple but “well-polished” movie. He stressed that while the film, which he called “silly, fun, and gross in the best possible way,” didn’t “redefine the [comedy-horror] genre,” it “comfortably” found its place in it and enjoyed the material defining it.
